tsinelas expands to asturias

September 27, 2005

TSINELAS launched its Asturias chapter on June 5, 2005, with its officers taking oath before the beneficiaries and their parents.

The Tsinelas board of directors attended the oath-taking ceremony and officially welcomed the members of the chapter to the organization. The event also served as the chapter’s first general assembly, with members interacting with the beneficiaries and their parents.

The Asturias chapter was organized with the help of Frs. Ben Trazo and Julius Pelarion, of the Archdiocese of Cebu. The two priests and the board of directors earlier went to Asturias and met with potential members to discuss how to go about organizing the chapter. Chapter members are all church workers with years of experience in volunteerism and civic work.

As a chapter, the Asturias group oversees Tsinelas’ operation in the town and looks after the needs of its beneficiaries there. Tsinelas has ten scholars in Looc Norte National High School, in Barangay Looc Norte, Asturias.

The beneficiaries were chosen by the chapter members themselves, after consulting with school officials and members of the community.
